Sophia Fedorchak has been part of the Academy of Ballet for nearly 20 years, first as a student and now as a member of the faculty. Through her years of training, she developed a strong foundation in classical ballet and a deep appreciation for the art and its traditions. Her training included additional study with American Ballet Theatre and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, further developing her technique and artistry. As an ABT-certified ballet instructor, Sophia enjoys helping students develop through consistency, focus, and a genuine enjoyment of dance.

Sophia believes ballet is a balance of dedication and enjoyment. She strives to create a classroom that is structured but encouraging, where students are challenged to work hard, develop their physical abilities, and enjoy the process of learning and dancing.

As a performer, Sophia has enjoyed roles including the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, the Queen of the Dryads in Don Quixote, and Neapolitan in Swan Lake. Her own experience performing has influenced the way she teaches, encouraging students to approach their dancing with musicality, expression, and purpose.

Alongside her ballet training, Sophia has pursued aerial arts, specializing in lyra and silks. She has performed aerial arts as part of live productions, giving her the opportunity to develop both her performance skills and physical strength. This training has broadened her understanding of conditioning, strength, and body awareness. She brings this into her approach to ballet by encouraging her students to value these elements as part of their training.
